Suspicious Credit Card Charge possible credit card fraud

We have just received a call from our bank alerting us of a suspicious credit card authorization.  The official informed us that this criminal practise is now rampant.  Criminals purchase credit card details from a variety of sources.  Many of these sources are rogue employees of legitimate online businesses and also shop front retail stores. 

When the criminals obtain your credit card details they will then carry out a "test charge authorization".  The test charge authorization does not actually take money out of your account--but it lets the criminals know if your credit card details are valid.

If the criminals are able to obtain a charge authorization from the credit card company, they will attempt to charge your credit card with a much larger amount.  If that amount is declined the thieves will try to charge a lower amount, until they get an authorization.

It is surprising how many people (especially affluent individuals) do not check their credit card statements.  In some cases victims have been feeding these human parasites for months or even years before discovering the charges.

Universal laws will eventually kick in and people who stoop to robbing others will eventually end up paying the price (and a very big price it is).  However, it is far more desirable if you deny these parasites the opportunity to defraud you.

The best method for preventing criminals to defraud you is to use PayPal wherever possible, if you cannot use PayPal then allocate a VISA or MasterCard Debit Card for internet purchases.  The balance of this account should be $0.

Whenever you wish to make a purchase transfer the money in the debit card account and make your purchase.

This way, when the thieves get hold of your details, they will not be able to get an authorization.

Credit card fraud is rampant at the moment--so it pays to take some precautions.

I know that in due time the banks and financial institutions will wake to the threats and will put in place systems that will protect consumers and merchants (who by the way are the ultimate victims of the criminal parasites).
